KARATE

"True karate is this: that in daily life, one's mind and body be trained and developed in a spirit of humility, and that in critical times, one be devoted utterly to the cause of justice."

Karate can also be described as a martial art, or a fighting method, involving a variety of techniques.

The word karate derived from japanese means empty hand and karate-do implies karate as a total way of life that goes well beyond the self-defense applications. In traditional karate-do, we always keep in mind that the true opponent is oneself.

"mind and technique become one in true karate."

We strive to make our physical techniques pure expressions of our mind's intention, and to improve our mind's focus by understanding the essence of the physical techniques. By polishing our karate we are polishing our own spirit.

Eliminating weak and indecisive movements in our karate helps us to eliminate weakness and indecision in our minds.

It is in this sense that karate becomes a way of life-
"We must be strong enough to express our true minds to any opponent, anytime, in any circumstance. We must be calm enough to express ourselves humbly."

KACHIDO

Welcome to Kachi-Do Karate!

Kachi simply means VICTORY in Japanese. So Kachi-Do translates to “The Way of Victory”, which is the first two characters on our uniforms. The last two characters, Karate, translate to “Empty Hand”. The translation for our academy would be “Victory through the Empty Hand”.

Kachi-Do Karate is a traditional style with a strong emphasis on the fundamentals of Karate. Strong punches, strong kicks, good form and most of all, strong practical self defence applications.

What is different about our Karate style compared to others?

The first thing would be the social aspect where everyone is made to feel welcomed and each individual student is assessed on his or her merits. We also teach students in a wide range of age groups and cater to everyone's needs.

Like anything in life, to become good, you must practice and apply yourself. Your instructor is your personal coach and he or she will guide you through every step of the way so that you can feel confident in yourself while progressing to your next belt.

The ultimate goal for any karateka is to achieve a Black Belt. All our instructors will play an integral part in helping you achieve that goal and many others.
